How do you care for a natural-style garden?

The main tasks are the spring cutting-back of perennials and grasses, controlling self-seeding and fertilizing as needed. In the first seasons the garden is tended by a gardening team following a seasonal calendar until the community becomes self-regulating; after that, intervention is minimal.
